Our Dentists

Our exceptional team, every member of which is a licensed professional in Tennessee, includes two implant dentists, a cosmetic dentist, and a periodontist. Dr. Jason Collier and Dr. William Locante both offer expertise in complex full mouth rehabilitation and cosmetic dentistry along with focused training in and emphasis on dental implants. Dr. Jason Collier

Dr. Jason S. Collier is our leading implant dentist serving the greater Memphis area. Dr. Collier graduated from the University Of Tennessee College Of Dentistry with a doctoral degree in dental surgery. Following his enthusiasm for teaching, Dr. Collier has instructed practitioners and students alike in surgical implant dentistry, restorative dentistry, and in the complex study of head and neck anatomy in the neuroanatomy department at the University Of Tennessee College Of Dentistry.

Throughout his entire career, Dr. Collier has intensely focused his practice and training toward dental implant surgery. As a dental surgeon, Dr. Collier is certified in oral conscious sedation and advanced cardiac life support. Concerned not only with flawless technique and esthetics but also superior patient care, Dr. Collier has developed a painless anesthesia technique to give his patients the greatest level of comfort possible. Anyone who knows Dr. Collier can attest to his avid enthusiasm for the field of implantology. This enthusiasm drives him both to excellence in treating his patients and to the constant advancement of his knowledge and technique through continuing education.

• Cutting Edge Technique - Dr. Collier also graduated from the advanced implant, bone grafting, and soft tissue management program at Loma Linda University in California, the premier implant training university in the world. At Loma Linda, Dr. Collier received the award for excellence in implant placement. He completed his intensive implant residency program under Dr. William Locante and has studied under a number of prominent leaders in the implant field. Dr. Collier has pursued these and other industry leading programs all with the intention of providing his patients with the greatest level of care and sharpening his technical abilities to levels of near-perfection. Dr. Collier has also taken extensive measures to study the cosmetic aspect of implantology and general dentistry, with a desire for his patients to have a beautiful, natural smile.

Dr. William Locante

Dr. William Locante is the cornerstone of our Memphis-area cosmetic and implant practice, and is a premiere dentist serving all of Tennessee. His friendly approach and comforting chairside manner help to put his patients at ease. At the Southern Dental Implant Center, he focuses his practice on implant dentistry and dental surgery. He received his degree in dental surgery from the Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1986.

Dr. Locante later received extensive training in dental surgery, periodontics, and endodontics in the U.S. Navy through the U.S. Marine Corps. He also received certification in multifaceted implantology from the University of New Jersey School of Medicine and Dentistry and Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He is trained and certified to provide IV (intravenous) and conscious sedation dentistry. He is also certified in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and was an ACLS instructor for several years.

Implant Dentistry Expertise

Dr. William Locante has been practicing implant dentistry since 1988 and is certified as an implant dentist by the American Board of Oral Implantology. He has devoted his professional life to the field of implant dentistry as a teacher, lecturer, researcher, innovator, and developer.

• Implant Design, Surgical Techniques, and Research - Dr. Locante has assisted in the design and development of dental implants for several major manufacturers, and has developed and refined implant surgical techniques that are used worldwide. He has patents on several of these techniques and has been involved in bioprotein research to improve bone grafting and augmentation techniques.
  
  
• Teaching and Training - As an experienced implant dentist, Dr. Locante teaches all phases of implant dentistry to dentists all over the world. In addition to providing regular implant dentistry courses at his teaching center, he is a member of the International Teaching Faculty for the AAID (American Academy of Implant Dentistry). He has also developed teaching protocol for the ICOI (International Congress of Oral Implantology) for teaching dental hygienists proper care of implants and implant-restored teeth.
  
  
• Published Articles – Dr. Locante's expertise in implant dentistry is sought after by other dental professional in the field. He has written and published multiple articles in major dental publications regarding implant dentistry.

Professional Memberships and Positions

Dr. Locante has been named a diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and he is a fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He was a past president of the Southern District of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), of which he is a trustee at the national level. Dr. Locante is also involved in the American Academy of Osseointegration, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the Academy of Implants and Transplants, the Tennessee Dental Association, Diplomate-American Board of Oral Implantology and the Memphis Dental Society. *This area of practice is not recognized as a specialty by the Tennessee Board of Dentistry

Dr. Paul Bland

Dr. Paul Bland is one of the premier periodontal specialists in Tennessee, and we are happy to have him as part of the Southern Dental Implant Center team. Dr. Bland believes that every patient deserves to have a sparkling smile and a clean, healthy mouth. As part of our team, he treats Memphis area patients along side our implant and cosmetic dentist. Dr. Bland has extensive experience in caring for the periodontal needs of patients of all ages, offering procedures such as gum cosmetic surgery and the treatment of periodontal disease. He always makes sure that his patients remain comfortable during treatments and that they reach their individual dental goals.

Dr. Bland was born in Orlando, Florida and received his undergraduate degree from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. He received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and an advanced education certificate in periodontology, both from the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He has been in private practice and part of the faculty of the College of Dentistry since 1994, and he currently serves as interim chairman of the department of periodontology, where he is an assistant professor. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, Memphis Dental Society, American Academy of Periodontology, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.

Our Locations

The Southern Dental Implant Center offers two convenient locations. All of our dentists are available at our Memphis location where they offer a range of cosmetic and restorative dentistry options, including dental implants. Our Memphis area location is dedicated to implant dentistry services, including the surgical placement and restoration of implants, performed exclusively by Dr. Locante. Dr. Locante and Dr. Collier are pleased to work with a patient’s existing general dentist performing the surgical aspect of treatment, while the patient’s general dentist completes the restorations. Dr. Locante and Dr. Collier work with an extensive group of referring doctors in a team approach to patient’s treatment.
